Superintendent's Office

 Dear ACS Community,

Well, we have nearly come to the end of the 2023-2024 school year.  It has been a year of change abounding with new ideas, new events, and new programs.  Of course, the frenetic pace at the end of a school year does not permit much time for reflection in this week.  We have many activities going on.

Tomorrow we have our elementary music and art programs.  Then, Wednesday we have both the 5th grade graduation and the new 8th grade milestone ceremony.  All, students will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday.  It is the last day of school.  Our final event to mark the end of the year will be our 12th grade graduation on Thursday, June 6th.

Don't forget to check for items that might belong to your family in the lost and found.  What remains will be donated soon after graduation.

We look forward to welcoming students back on the 8th of August.  In a short while, you will receive information about starting the re-registration process.  The process will open on July first.

Thanks for a great year, and have a wonderful summer vacation.

Yours,

Andrew

Atentamente,

Andrew

    Secondary School

    Dear parents,

With a short but busy week ahead, students are finishing up another successful school year. Events this week include:

8th grade Milestone Ceremony - Grade 8 students and their parents will be celebrating the end of Middle School and preparing for their transition to High School

High School Commencement Ceremony - We will celebrate our seniors' final year and wish them well as they move on to the next step in their journeys

This Wednesday is the last day of school for all students, and dismissal is at 12:00. Please remind your child to stop by the Lost & Found to collect any missing clothing; all remaining items will be donated to charity later this week. Please also remind them to take home the lock on their locker. Lockers will be cleaned out during the break, so any locks that remain will be cut off.

All students are encouraged to read over the summer. The Library is open this week and students are welcome to stop by to pick up some titles for summer reading.

End of year Report Cards will be sent to all families on Friday.

Please continue to check your email box over the summer. Information about Classroom Without Walls and Pathways for Prevention may be sent as updates become available.

The first student day back at school is Thursday, August 8, 2024. Students will receive schedules by email in late July or early August. Those with questions or concerns may reach out to Carolina Blanco for help.

We hope everyone has a relaxing break with family and friends!

    End-of-Year Reflection

Just as I felt at the beginning of this school year, I am filled with gratitude as we close out the 2023-2024 academic year at Calvert. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our community for receiving me with a warm welcome, for giving me the opportunity to gain your trust, and for supporting us in our endeavors as we strive for continuous improvement in teaching and learning at our school.

The following are some of the highlights that rise to the surface as I reflect on 2023-2024:

    • Meeting our student, colleague, and parent community and getting to know the culture of our school and the hopes for its future.

    • Facilitating instructional leaders in supporting their colleagues in becoming high-functioning teams - beginning with building trust.

    • Working with teachers to review our programs, both in content and methodology; aligning curriculum and supporting new strategies in classrooms.

    • Hosting a successful NEASC visit where our visitors noted the numerous elements of our school that merit great celebration.

    • Getting to know La Paz and finding the city more and more endearing all the time.

    • Seeing my daughter welcomed into the senior class with warmth and open arms.

    • Being filled with optimism moving into the 2024-2025 school year, full of exciting developments ahead!

I very much look forward to returning in July energized and ready to take on the challenges of 2024-2025. I am confident that we will continue to forge an innovative spirit as we cherish our traditions while shaping our future.

An immense thank you to our community, and may you all have a very enjoyable break.

    ~ Ana
