Superintendent's Office

 Dear ACS Community,

Today, I have some wonderful news to share.  After a thorough process involving stakeholders throughout the school, I am pleased to announce that we have made an offer that has been accepted for the permanent secondary school principal position.  Doctor Tim Warren will join us as secondary school principal next fall.  Tim has led in similar roles in North America, South America, Africa, and Asia.  The hiring process for our new senior leadership team is now complete, and I am very excited thinking about all that this new team can do to challenge and inspire our ACS students and teachers.

Ms. Inarra will be away this week serving on an accreditation team at another school as part of our commitment as a Cognia accredited school.  This process is beneficial for both the visited school and the visiting team members.  Team members always bring back new ideas and new approaches, while they share their own experience.

On Friday, we will celebrate both international day and earth day.  The elementary school will have a parade in the morning and the secondary school will have activities in the afternoon.

This past week and weekend, our students won second place in the friendship games.  The score was very close, and we ended up only one point behind Santa Cruz.  Over and over again, I was impressed by how much of their heart and soul our student athletes and scholars put into their competitions.  Parents, you should be very proud.  I also want to say thank you to all of our coaches.  It is not easy for coaches to take responsibility for the lives of almost 100 students at a tournament, but our coaches did so with professionalism, a positive spirit, and cougar pride.  Thank you, coaches.

Finally, at short notice, we had the unique honor on Sunday of hosting the Bolivian Special Olympics gymnastics team.  Their normal training facility was unavailable, and we were proud to be able to step in to support them in achieving success for Bolivia in Berlin.

Have a great week ahead.

Yours,

Andrew

Atentamente,

Andrew

Elementary School

 Dear Parents,

I hope you had a restful Spring Break and that both you and your child(ren) are ready for the 4th quarter.

I would like to kindly remind you to please fill out the International Day form, linked here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3gq-etWX4DvOwCcAcFt6F8Tm-VV6Ap_UhuhX-UklFqB7mmg/viewform?usp=sf_link

All ES students must participate in the International Day Parade, so filing in the form is necessary in order for the school to be prepared as to which countries will be represented. If you have already filled in the form, please disregard the message above.

I would also like to inform you of a new procedure for dropping off items your child(ren) forget after the school day has begun. The Senior Leadership Team has decided to permit the delivery of other important items that students may have forgotten at home (the usual suspects are devices, a range of academic materials, PE/athletic equipment, and the like). There are a couple of important details to share with you:

First, in order to minimize as much as possible disruptions to the instructional day, the delivery window will run from the start of the school day to 9:00 AM only. Parents will leave items in the same collection area currently used for lunch delivery. The school will not accept anything that is delivered after 9:00 AM (excluding lunches, of course.). Please inform your child's teacher, via Class Dojo, that you have dropped off the item and they will let your child know.

It will be the responsibility of the students to pick up items that have been left for them. There will be no deliveries to classrooms. Students can retrieve their items during the passing time between periods. However, teachers may permit students to pick up an item during the class period if it is essential to participate in the lesson.

Parents will be permitted to deliver items beginning on Monday, April 10.

With Gratitude -

Secondary School

 Dear Parents,

I trust that this message finds you all well and enjoying the sunshine and warm weather of these last few days!

It has been wonderful seeing all of our students back on campus today as I must admit that the Secondary School seemed a bit too quiet last Thursday and Friday.  I have been hearing lots of wonderful feedback regarding the Friendship Games experience.  By all accounts, it was a fantastic opportunity to not just compete against peers at the member schools, but also to build (and deepen) connections and friendships.  I saw quite a bit of "hardware" making its way into school this morning, which means that we now have to find additional space for these latest additions to our trophy collection...not a bad problem to have!

Just a quick reminder already we are nearly at the mid-point of Quarter 4.  Students with quarter grades of  below 70% in a particular course will receive a progress report detailing what is working well and what can be improved upon.

Best wishes,

Steve Augeri
