Superintendent's Office
Dear ACS Community,
We enjoyed welcoming a great new group of ACS parents at a special event last weekend. Our enrollment now stands at 569, and it is still growing. In fact, we are hopeful that students currently in the admissions' pipeline will elevate our numbers to 575 or beyond. Thank you to our faculty and staff for their efforts to make ACS an ever more desirable school to which families entrust the education of their children.
Today will be the second to last installment describing the physical improvements to our campus over the summer. You can see from the attached pictures that both the inside and the outside of the classroom buildings at ACS were repaired and repainted. What is less obvious is that our teams took time to do these repairs right. They found some old repairs that were done improperly, and they took time to correct the work. This illustrates the growth in professionalism and attention to detail on our maintenance team. The work this summer also showcases the increased oversight and the higher standards to which our external contractors are being held. In all areas of the school, we are committed to using the tuition and fees that you provide as efficiently as we possibly can to deliver a high-quality education in an environment that supports and enhances learning. We thank our facilities team for doing their utmost to make this possible.
As the month of August comes to a close, I want to say that it continues to be a joy to work with our new team of academic administrators. The team's collective work overflows with both ideas and action steps that will take academics at ACS to a new level. It is truly a privilege to be at ACS during this time of excitement and renewal.
Have a great week ahead.
Yours,
Andrew
Atentamente,
Andrew

Elementary School
Dear Elementary Parents,
Welcome to the final days of August. These first few weeks have been dedicated to helping our students feel comfortable at school. We've been working to create classroom communities where students are safe, feel welcomed, and understand not only the routines and procedures of life at school but also their purposes. It's been a treat to be part of these experiences - and our teachers are so talented at cultivating warm & kind classrooms. In the coming weeks, we dive more and more into intensive academics. You will no doubt hear all about this exciting work that's taking place in your conversations with your child and from our teachers themselves.
Playground Installation has Begun: We are so very excited to share that our new playground is currently being installed on campus. The shipment arrived in the middle of last week. Though the completion date is dependent upon a few variables, the end of this process is in sight!
Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) Start on Monday: With the exception of swimming classes, which start next Monday, September 4, all ECAs begin today. Yesterday, you should have received confirmation of ECA enrollment from our ECA Coordinator, Ms. Denisse Barron. Please visit our ECA Site and reach out to Ms. Denisse Barron if you have questions.
Upcoming Food Service Changes: Our Elementary team has worked closely with our wonderful food provider, Peppe, to ensure that our students have access to healthy foods to fuel their learning throughout the day. Please note the following small changes to our elementary food service, all of which are set to begin on Monday, September 4th:
- Vegetables will be served with every hot dish
- French fries and sweets (ice cream, baked goods, etc.) will be available for purchase on Fridays
- More healthy snacks will be promoted & sold (e.g. fruits, yogurts, veggies, etc.)

Secondary School
Dear Parents,
It was nice to see so many of you at the Academic Excellence awards ceremony last week. Students who earned Honor Roll status during the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year gathered in the Theater to be recognized and receive certificates. We believe it is important to recognize and encourage high grades as this is one way that colleges and universities evaluate potential for post-secondary success.
However, grades are only one indicator of success. One of the hallmarks of our program is our celebration of differences and encouragement of individuality throughout our school community. Each of our students has unique interests and aptitudes, and we strive to encourage and develop growth in a variety of ways. While some students are captivated by scientific discovery or logical reasoning, others may be passionate about artistic exploration, creative design, or dramatic exhibition. Our holistic approach to learning embraces a wide range of qualities and interests, and prominent colleges and universities now recognize and pursue students who excel in these varied ways. Diversity of interest makes for a richer learning environment, both at the secondary and post-secondary levels, and we will continue our efforts to provide choice in learning.
In preparation for another unique learning opportunity, please watch your email for a Classroom Without Walls (CWW) survey coming this week. So that we can plan adequately, please respond and let us know whether your child will participate in one of the away trips or will be joining the local experience during the week of October 2-6. More details about each learning experience will be coming soon. Please watch your email inbox!
As always, please contact teachers directly with any classroom questions or concerns, or our office for general questions.
