Superintendent's Office

 Dear ACS Community,

This is an exciting week in the life of ACS.  Today we will have a small ceremony inaugurating our new playground and thanking those who made it possible.  Today's event acts as a culmination of all the work that went into the Gala.  For the ACS community, however, there is an even greater significance than just having a new playground for our kids.  Our ACS Community has come together around a shared purpose and achieved a wonderful success.  This is just a beginning, our community is actively working to improve ACS in many other ways, from academics to facilities.  Together, we can do great things.

Today's ceremony will largely be for the adults involved, but the students will also cut a ribbon tomorrow and get a chance to play on the new playground.  Family day picnic, of course, will be a great chance for the whole community to see the new playground filled and in action.

This week, you also have another chance to see our Cougars in action during the High School Cougar Cup.  It will run from today until Thursday.  Then, of course, the week ends with the Family Day Picnic on Saturday.  We hope that your family will take the opportunity to join the ACS Community on our campus this week and weekend.

Have a great week ahead.

Yours,

Andrew

Atentamente,

Andrew

Elementary School

Dear Elementary Parents,
This is a big week in our elementary school! Our playground is opening for children, unofficially, tomorrow, and will open officially at Family Fun Day at 12:00pm on Saturday, September 30th. Be there to join the celebration!

I would like to take a moment to thank you all for entrusting ACS with your children. We had a marvelous Student Appreciation Day on Friday, with a fun performance by Locotito, burgers and hot dogs grilled by Dr. Crouse and myself, and a movie afternoon. The day was a great reminder of why we educators do what we do, and how thankful we are for your support and for leaving your most precious children with us during the days. I would also like to extend my deep gratitude to our Parent Reps who helped us serve the hot dogs and hamburgers on Friday. The whole event went very smoothly thanks to their generous help!

Just a friendly reminder that it's not too late to sign up for our Parent Coffee: CFG Edition on Tuesday, September 26th from 8:15-9:15am. More info is below:

On Tuesday, September 26th we are so happy to host our first Parent Coffee: CFG Edition. CFG stands for Critical Friends Group and is a tool that is commonly used in schools by teachers to improve their practices in the classroom. However, the structure is easily adaptable and useful for people from all walks of life, especially parents looking to improve their parenting skills!

This first Parent Coffee: CFG Edition will be focused on developing parenting skills and practices with the goal of raising independent and resilient children. Registration is required; we hope you will complete the form linked below and join us! The hour will start off with a 15-minute presentation on this theme by the Elementary Leadership Team, and then break out into collaborative groups to generate ideas and solve problems. Secondary School

Dear Parents,

It was great to see so many Middle School parents at the Cougar Cup this past week. Our student volleyballers, soccer players, and cheerleaders represented our school well and were great sports and hosts to the visiting schools. We look forward to the same positive outcome this week during the High School events. Please come and cheer on the Cougars!

We also look forward to seeing you at the Family Picnic this coming Saturday between 11:00 and 4:00. There will be plenty of food and activity options, and the new playground built with funds from last year's Gala will finally be finished and open for use. Please come and enjoy some social time with other ACS families.

This is the final academic week for this academic quarter. Students will be studying hard and completing end-of-quarter projects and assessments as well as preparing for Classroom Without Walls the following week. Please mark your calendars for Parent-Teacher-Student conferences on Thursday, October 26. We hope that all parents will come on this day for brief meetings with each teacher. This is an important opportunity to review learning progress during the first quarter and discuss plans for a successful remainder of the year.
