Dear ACS Community,
I'm sure you are also breathing a sigh of relief this afternoon, knowing that the person who made the threats against schools in La Paz is now with the police. We can now turn with greater confidence and peace of mind to the events of the week.
This week, of course, we will be hosting the high-school friendship games. The celebrations will start on Wednesday with a Pep Rally, in which we will show our support for our student athletes. The games themselves will run from Thursday to Saturday. For many of us, the games represent an existing few days spent supporting our athletes. For our coaches and competitors, these games represent the culmination of months of preparation. Thank you in advance to our athletic director, Elba Beyer, and all of our coaches for all the work you have done preparing for this week.
The games this week are entitled the "Friendship Games" because they are intended to promote friendship between the four schools and the three cities of La Paz, Santa Cruz, and Cochabamba. As hosts, I hope we can all look for ways to promote friendship throughout the games among the students, parents, teachers, and administrators at the four schools.
I look forward to seeing you at the games, and have a great week ahead.

Estimada comunidad ACS,
Estoy seguro de que usted también estará respirando aliviado esta tarde al saber que el autor de las amenazas contra las escuelas de La Paz ya está con la policía. Ahora podemos abordar con mayor confianza y tranquilidad los acontecimientos de la semana.
Esta semana, por supuesto, organizaremos los juegos de la amistad de la escuela secundaria. Las celebraciones comenzarán el miércoles con un Pep Rally, en el que mostraremos nuestro apoyo a nuestros estudiantes atletas. Los juegos en sí se desarrollarán de jueves a sábado. Para muchos de nosotros, los juegos representan unos pocos días dedicados a apoyar a nuestros atletas. Para nuestros entrenadores y competidores, estos juegos representan la culminación de meses de preparación. Gracias de antemano a nuestra directora atlética, Elba Beyer, y a todos nuestros entrenadores por todo el trabajo que han realizado preparándose para esta semana.

Seeing so many parents at our Parent Coffee on Child Protection at ACS this past Friday was a thrill. Our Parent Coffees, both the presentations and the CFG Editions are intended to bring you into the community, share with you the educational approaches we are taking as a school, for your children, and help to share perspectives and ideas that may benefit you as a parent. We all know there's not a more difficult job in the world than raising a child in these times. As an educational institution, it is our duty to not just settle for educating our students but to serve as a support and resource for parents as well. If you haven't joined a Parent Coffee yet, our next one is a "hot topic" in most households I know of; "Technology Use at ACS and at Home." We'll discuss screen time, how we use tech at school, and how to establish and use boundaries with your children. It's not intended to be the solution to every problem, but a time and space for you to give some thought to the role that technology plays in your household. Space STEAM Day is coming up next Tuesday, November 21st! Our students across elementary will be engaged in activities that challenge them to solve problems while learning about science, technology, engineering, art and math! We are so excited. We do need more recycled materials to prepare for this exciting day. Please see the poster to the right for more information!
